I am a huge fan of salsa! I eat it on a lot of things. For some time now I’ve been making this homemade recipe. Thanks to Averie at Averirecooks for this wonderful recipe. Not only do I love it, but my husband and 2 out of my 3 kids love it too. Right now it’s one of my 3 year olds favorite snacks. I rarely buy it in the store anymore. I really like knowing what I’m putting into my food. This salsa is so easy to whip up and it makes a decent sized batch, so it lasts for awhile. I make it up at least an hour before serving, the longer it sits the better. My favorite chips to eat with salsa is the big 6 pound box from Sam’s Club, that way we never run out. Not only does salsa go well with chips, but I like it on eggs, fish tacos, taquitos, and much more. If you like salsa give this recipe a try and let me know what you think.
- 1 28oz. can of whole peeled tomatoes
- 1 small onion, peeled and quartered
- 1 or 2 jalapeno (remove seeds, unless you like heat)
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 1/2 tsp. ground cumin
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp sugar
- 1 good sized handful of cilantro leaves
- 3 Tbsp. lime juice (about 2- 3 small limes)
Add all the ingredients to a blender, blend until everything is combined and smooth. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
