Healthy Taco Seasoning

We love tacos in our house. Now that I make my own taco seasoning here at my house I feel better about serving tacos to my family.

Have you ever been told how bad taco seasoning packets at the store are for you?  I know I’ve heard a  million times how taco seasoning packets are loaded with bad ingredients. They are loaded with a lot of salt, MSG and some mystery ingredients as well.

Every time I went to the store and bought taco seasoning, I felt guilty feeding it to my family. Then I was introduced to Wildtree and I started buying their taco seasoning, which is organic and MSG free.I felt better, but I was paying way more than I wanted.

One day I was totally out of taco seasoning and wanted to make tacos for supper without running to the store. I decided to take a look on Pinterest for some ideas on how to make my own taco seasoning and what spices I would need. I was relieved to discover that I had all the spices I needed in my spice cabinet. So I set out to make my own taco seasoning.

The taste of the taco meat was delicious.  I was very surprised how much all of us liked it. I actually think it’s my new favorite. Not only am I not breaking the bank, but I know good healthy ingredients are going into my families bellies.

I seriously suggest you give this taco seasoning a try it’s really good!

  • 1/2 cup chili powder
  • 1/4 cup onion powder
  • 1/8 cup ground cumin
  • 1 Tbsp. garlic powder (honestly, I always add more garlic)
  • 1 Tbsp. sea salt
  • 1 Tbsp. paprika


  1. Mix all ingredients together.
  2. To use in ground beef add 1 cup of water and 3 Tbsp. of taco seasoning.  Taste and add more if need be.
  3. Store left over seasoning in an airtight container for future use.
